How tired do you feel on a daily basis?

This is October 2nd of my book:  ‘How To Change Your Life One Day At ATime‘.

Take the opportunity today to take a nap if you need it.

There is a lot of scientific evidence to support the notion that napping is actually a highly beneficial pursuit.

The important aspect of napping is to get the timing right. The most important part of any sleep period is dreaming. If you don’t get a chance to dream you will not feel any benefit from the sleep. So your goal with napping is to get into REM state (Rapid Eye Movement ie: Dreaming) as quickly as possible. Then, wake up as soon as possible once it has passed. If you allow yourself to go into deeper sleep you will find it very hard to wake and will feel groggy and tired.

So how do you do that?

Thankfully tests have shown that most people will need between 15 and 30 minutes of sleep to experience REM, so start with that. You’ll have to experiment with an alarm clock to find your optimum time but once you find it you’ll find you can wake feeling refreshed and alert.

Lastly for anyone who thinks napping is for kids, the elderly and sherkers – here’s a handful of famous nappers: Richard Branson, Bill Clinton, Winston Churchill and Leonardo da Vinci – so you’ll be in good company.

Enjoy
