Do you find making decisions easy?

Are YOU at a fork in the road?

Are YOU at a fork in the road?

Hiya,

I pose this question on my Facebook Fan page today.

If you know my story of the last 10 years you’ll know it all started with changing ‘how‘ I made decisions. Do I still procrastinate? Of course. To the same level? Hell no!

Let me know if you find decision making hard or easy over on my page.

Enjoy

The Paradox of Shortcuts

F1

Hiya,

I was getting a little impatient the other day. I’m trying to get my book and program into the hands of as many people as possible, and find that the daily grind of putting content ‘out there’ on the interweb takes an inordinate amount of my time.

I thought ‘There must be a quicker way – surely!’

But then I looked back on all the so called short cuts I’ve tried in life and guess what…yeah, they took longer or led me down the wrong street altogether!

In that moment of realisation a Formula 1 racetrack came to mind. I’ve driven on Brands Hatch and been tutored on ‘how’ to do the fastest lap possible. Guess what? They teach that the racing line isn’t always the shortest distance from A to B. The racing line is the fastest route, the route that you can maintain maximum speed without skidding off into the barriers.

It made me wonder where else in my life might I be looking for the shortest distance when I should actually be looking for a route that maintains maximum speed – even if it means going the long way.

I wonder if you might find it useful to consider this in your own life.

2 lessons from Kiyosaki bankruptcy

Kiyosaki

Hiya,

If you haven’t heard of Robert Kiyosaki, he’s the guy behind ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad‘ – the multimillion dollar financial self help brand.

He recently lost a court battle to pay royalties to one of his partners in just one of his companies. He was successfully sued for $24m!

He decided to put that company into bankruptcy rather than pay it.

He still has an estimated personal worth of approx. $80m!

Now I’m not going to cast judgement, I don’t know all the facts, but I can take 2 lessons from this story…

#1 Create multiple streams of income

#2 Be honourable and act with integrity

Number one is probably the best bit of financial advice I learned many years ago. Having all your eggs in one basket leaves you vulnerable to changing circumstances. So find ways to create other income as soon as possible!

Number two, if you do make agreements – honour them –Β ALWAYS! Our reputation is arguably our most valuable intangible asset – protect it with integrity.

My most recent teacher Soul, author of ‘Pay Me What I’ Am Worth’, defines integrity beautifully as simply ‘Doing what you say you are going to do.

More Time or Money?

Hiya,

I’m sure most of us could do with a bit more of both Time AND Money, but, if you could only have more of oneΒ – which would you choose?

Seems like a no-brainer at first doesn’t it, but dwell on it a bit and you may find yourself in a dilemma!

As usual, love to hear your thoughts on this over on my Facebook Page

Are the Mind and Brain separate?

Hiya,

This is a real philosopher’s debate today on my Facebook Fan page.

Although more and more studies can identify which parts of the brain are responsible for certain thought processes and body functions, it seems when the brain gets damaged the mind can still be intact. In fact in many cases unaltered by the physical damage.

Scientists still haven’t identified where memory resides in the brain – it’s seems to happen everywhere at once. So, is our mind tapped in to some universal intelligence or force, or is it simply an illusion created by our chemical reactions?

Can you see your potential?

Bulbs2

Hiya,

I was pondering the other day about seeds and bulbs and how when you look at them, to the untrained eye, it’s hard to tell what they will grow into.

Similarly, with ourselves, it’s hard to see our full potential – but it’s there!

So, how can we identify the plant from the seed or bulb?

By learning about them.

How can we understand ourΒ own full potential?

By learning about ourselves and what makes us tick.

I wonder what MY full potential is.

I wonder what YOUR full potential is.

Who’s up for finding out?

Do you meditate?

Hiya,

I hear a lot about meditation, how useful it is to gaining clarity of mind, calmness, peace. But meditation comes in many forms – doesn’t it?

For me, sitting still trying to clear my mind just doesn’t work. I have to walk in the woods, sit on a hilltop, or just take 5 minutes with a cuppa and a comfy chair – with no distractions. This to me is meditation. I gain clarity of mind, feel calm and peaceful and very often have my best ideas!

I’d love for you to join in the discussion and let me know what your preferred form of meditating is, or whether you don’t bother.

What come first; Thoughts or Emotions?

Hiya,

Today’s debate on my FB Fan page asks this profound question. We had a heated debate about this very subject at my Philosopher’s Club a few weeks ago where we ended up agreeing that, to our perception at least, a bit of both was happening.

For the most part I believe that thoughts are at the root of all feelings, however, there seemed to be occasions where emotions would well up so instantly no thought seemed to have been involved.
