Are you a verb or a noun?

JULY 14th of ‘How To Change Your Life One Day At A Time‘.

In his brilliant ‘devotional’ book: ‘Ideas Are Free Execution Is Priceless’, Scott Ginsberg says it brilliantly:
A verb is anything that expresses action or being. It could be a word. But it could also be an idea. Or a person. Or a product. Or an entire organisation.
He goes on to say:
The point is: Nouns aren’t noticed.

Basically what Scott is getting at is ‘verb’ people are active. They are being what or who they want to be and they’re doing things that they want to do.

‘Noun’ people on the other hand are passive – they just describe.

Ask a ‘noun’ teacher who they are and they might say ‘I’m a teacher.’ But ask a ‘verb’ teacher who they are and they might say “I teach children how they can be who they want to be, and that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

So, are you a verb or a noun?

Do You Dread Going to Work?

p.277 of Scott Ginsberg's 'The Nametag Principle'

p.277 of Scott Ginsberg’s ‘The Nametag Principle’

Hiya,

Every day I read a page of Scott Ginsberg’s ‘The Nametag Principle’.  (I’m out of synch due to when I started reading it! 🙂

As you can see from the page above, there’s a reason why employees clock watch. But that doesn’t mean ONLY the boss can change that.

If you ARE an employee that clock watches – talk to your boss. Tell them you feel disengaged then offer solutions that would get you engaged. They will listen, or not. If not, you can choose to stay or choose to look for a better job.

If you are a boss and your employees seem unhappy, demotivated, uninspired – talk to them. Ask them what would need to happen for them to enjoy their job more. Then LISTEN. Brainstorm ways to let all employees feel valued, appreciated, part of the team.

Scott has a lot of books (for free) on his blog: HELLO My Name is Blog!

I encourage you to check his work out – you’ll be glad you did.

Take the opportunity today to understand the law of opposing forces.

Hiya,

Newton’s Law that states every action has an opposite and equal
reaction, ie: the positive energy of gratitude you send out will come
back to you. Help and be helped in return. That’s not to say ‘help’
and expect to be ‘helped’ in return by that person or any other
person. Just know that you will be helped somehow. Thank and be
thanked. Give and be given.

Some of you might be thinking Newton didn’t mean it that way. You
might think that Newton was just talking about physical forces like
the butt of a rifle forcing it’s way into your shoulder with the same
force that the bullet propels from the barrel. But I will argue that
it’s all energy. And if Newton was around today and got to grips with
Quantum Mechanics he would agree with me. Everything is energy and
therefore any form of energy is subject to his Law.

For practical uses Scott Ginsberg writes about duality in a similar
way in his book ‘Ideas Are Free Execution Is Priceless’ (p.131) where
he suggests embracing opposites in order to be successful. One example
he uses is being patient with an equal amount of impatience. Patient
with the process, understanding that things don’t always go the way or
the speed you planned and impatient enough to get moving with ideas
without waiting until every tiny detail has been considered.

Think of how you could use this concept today.

Take the opportunity today to be a verb and not a noun.

Hiya,

In his brilliant ‘devotional’ book: ‘Ideas Are Free Execution Is

He goes on to say:

“The point is: Nouns aren’t noticed.”

Basically what Scott is getting at is ‘verb’ people are active. They
